After playing a quasi-biographical character in Raajneeti, Katrina Kaif is set to play a real-life character – Madhubala.

Katrina will reprise the legendary actress’ role in the Kishore Kumar biopic to be directed by Anurag Basu. Katrina was finalised for the project after she opted out of Basu’s other film, Silence, in which she was to co-star with Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor.

A source says, “Katrina couldn’t do two back-to-back projects with Anurag Basu and Ranbir Kapoor. So she picked the biopic on Kishore Kumar in which she will play Madhubala.”

While she was considering her option back then. Katrina had said, “If I do another film with Ranbir, I’d want it to be a full-fledged commercial love story.” And it can’t get any more mainstream and romantic than the Kishore Kumar-Madhubala saga.

In fact, the actress has already begun doing her homework for the role and watched Mughal-e-Azam, Mahal and Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi.

While Katrina chose not to reply, Anurag says guardedly, “I think it’s a little early to talk about it. I still haven’t got the principal cast of my current project, Silence, in place. But yes, Katrina is someone I am very, very fond of…for her looks, talent and nature.

I am definitely working with her, if not in Silence, then in my next film.” One of the song sequences from Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi that Anurag Basu’s film will be looking to recreate is the Kishore-Madhubala song Ek ladki bheegi bhaagi si.

The film ‘3 Idiots’ topped the box office, and many a filmmaker was keen to buy the rights of this flick with the intention of remaking it in South India. Gemini Film Circuit now owns the copyrights to make ‘3 Idiots’ in Tamil and Telugu. While actor Vijay has already been roped in to play the lead role, it has been heard that the first choice of the female lead was Katrina Kaif.

We’re told, “Katrina was offered the movie in spite of Kareena playing the female lead in the original. However, she had date problems and couldn’t fit the assignment in her schedule. Also with her doing big banner Hindi films, her priority will be Hindi films for the time being, although she would like to try different things and keep her options open.

” Wonder whom the filmmakers will approach next? Will it be yet another Bollywood hottie, we wonder.

The rumor mills may have been churning out spiciest gossip linking Katrina Kaif with Ranbir Kapoor. But the netizens still feel it is Salman Khan with whom Katrina looks the best.

In a poll conducted by ApunKaChoice, 51 percent people voted in favour of Salman as opposed to 13 percent for Ranbir and 36 percent for Hrithik Roshan when asked whom would they like to see Katrina star with on screen.

Not just on their site, even in a poll conducted by MSN, Salman and Katrina were voted the “Hottest Bollywood couple of The decade” (with 36 percent of total votes), outshining out celeb couples like Abhishek Bachchan-Aishwarya Rai (27 percent), John Abraham-Bipasha Basu (13 percent) and Saif Ali Khan-Kareena Kapoor (6 percent). Guess the fans aren’t yet done watching Kat-Sallu together.

Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif never speak about her love life though it’s an open secret that she is going steady with Salman Khan, forget about talking about her marriage.

But she has let the cat out of the bag this time around. She revealed that she would get married in two years.

Katrina said that she would tie the knot in two years. “I think in two years I will get married. But still two years is a long time. I think I still have some time. Lets see. You know as the saying goes, ‘Man proposes god disposes’ – so every time we make a plan god comes and changes it. Let’s see,” PTI quoted Katrina as saying.

Katrina had denied marriage reports in the past, stating that she would concentrate on her film career. But now that she has tasted enough success in the last couple of years, she seems to have decided to settle down in the near future.

She is one of the top actresses in Bollywood today and has some promising films in her kitty. She plays a politician in the film Raajneeti directed by Prakash Jha Raajneeti, which also features actors like Ajay Devgn, Ranbir Kapoor and Arjun Rampal. She also acts with Akshay Kumar in Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan.

Denying the evidence before our very eyes, the unscientific Katrina Kaif insists that she is not hot & sexy.

She argues that audiences simply see actors in particular roles and keep them there. Her own screen persona is one of being hot and sexy, whereas Vidya Balan, perhaps, has a persona that is pictured as ethnic.

Nevertheless, Katrina is grateful for the adoration her fans show her and hopes they stick around for a while longer.

“It’s been a wonderful ride so far and I’ve had wonderful support from a lot of people,” she says. “The audience has been very supportive and I hope that I keep getting the opportunity and the good work and as long as that’s there, I am happy.”

Katrina is looking forward to the release of “Raajneeti”, which she believes will broaden her appeal away from the hot & sexy image alone. Rumors suggest her performance is outstanding and she may be up for even a National Award.

Of greater pride to Katrina is that she believes in portraying such an intensive role, she has finally perfected her Hindi. “It was a challenge I set for myself,” she confirms, “I’ve always paid that extra attention to my dubbing. But Raajneeti is really tough. Was I challenged by other actors speaking such fluent Hindi in Raajneeti? No, I always look at only myself for competition.”
