KBC Ke Rang, Preity Zinta and Rani Mukherjee Ke Sang
February 20, 2007
After the rocking Valentine day special , SRK has just recorded a Holi special featuring his two KANK co-stars Preity Zinta and Rani Mukherjee.
The episode clicked off like a fire. As a source from the set says, “There were rumours about a fall-out between Preity and Rani who were once best friends. But SRK has a special of knack of making all his heroines feel special. Earlier this week on Koffee With Karan he actually made Kajol and her cousin Rani Mukherjee who self admittedly don’t socialize together sit together on one sofa and be civil to one another. Now on KBC Preity and Rani got along like a house on fire.â€
Though the exact prize money won by the two leading ladies is not known they won close to Rs 50 lakhs together.
Protest Against Shahrukh, KBC And Star
February 1, 2007
A ‘Valmiki’ organization affiliated to a political party, protested against the anchor Shah Rukh Khan of the top TV show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, the show itself and Star Television, in Hoshiarpur (Punjab) on Tuesday.
These protests have been against some reported remarks by SRK against Valmiki ji (where he merely repeated what the contestant had said). The protestors burnt an effigy of the actor.
The assembly elections being round the corner in Punjab and the Bahujan Samaj Party having a reasonable presence in the state, the ‘Valmiki’ population is their traditional vote bank and every little opportunity is being exploited by other political parties to win them over.
Shahrukh Khan Has KBC At Home Now
December 25, 2006
Looks like SRK is working hard at getting into the skin of his new job. One part of his bungalow, Mannat, has been converted into a virtual set so that King Khan gets ample time to do his homework by practicing with dummy contestants.
Some of his friends who have sat on the hot seat include Farah Khan, Karan Johar, musicians Vishal, Shekhar and choreographer Ganesh Hegde.
The choreographer confirms saying “yes I was there and I couldn’t resist the temptation of testing my general knowledge. I won Rs.1, 60,000 and didn’t use any of my four lifelines. It’s great fun to play with SRK as the quizmasterâ€
Star India’s COO, Sameer Nair confirms saying “He was in Australia when we asked him if he would prefer a mock set at a studio near his house. But he said it would be better if we could arrange it at his house itself.
We have given him the chairs, the computerji, the graphic system, the sound system and even mock participants are sent so that he plays with them. Everything is there except the lights. Often Khan’s close friends from the industry and other guests at his house sit on the hot seat and play the game with him.â€
SRK’s KBC is set to hit the screen early next year.
Priyanka Chopra Finds Shahrukh Yummy!
November 16, 2006
Relax guys. She is just a big fan of hers.
Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra says she is a big fan of actor Shah Rukh Khan because “he inspires you to give your best.”
Chopra played Khan’s girlfriend in her latest movie Don, which was released last month.
“He is just plain yummy,” Chopra told a movie magazine. “It took me a while to snap out of my fixation and treat him as a co-star.”
Khan “just inspires you to give your best,” she said. “Even now, after so many years, he seems to be just a regular guy doing his job.”
Don, about a mafia head who eludes the police, is a remake of the 1978 Bollywood classic which starred movie legend Amitabh Bachchan and beauty queen Zeenat Aman.
Chopra, 24, said she has been Khan’s fan since she saw him in the 1995 blockbuster Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge.
Khan, 41, is one of the biggest Bollywood heartthrobs of the past decade and one of the highest-paid actors in India’s movie world.
Certainly, He is one of the best actors in India.
Shahrukh Having Fun Dancing After A Long Time
November 3, 2006
Shah Rukh danced with both Mukesh Ambani’s mother and wife, he then danced with best friend Karan Johar to bring in his birthday on 2nd November. He danced all night at a party hosted by Neeta and Mukesh Ambani on Wednesday night. It also happened to be Neeta Ambani’s birthday.
Says one of the party guests. “I’ve never seen dear Shah Rukh have so much fun in a long time. God bless his beautiful soul. Of late he had begun to look very sad. The 41st birthday bash changed all that.
Shah Rukh just took the show over, so much so that Prince Andrew who was also a special invitee was completely eclipsed. Nobody even looked at the high-profile British crown prince.
As far as the revelers at the Ambanis’ party were concerned the star of the show was Shah Rukh. He danced with everyone from Mrs Ambani to Karan Johar. The success of Don has put the glow of success on his face.”
The party went on till the wee hours. “It just proved that Shah Rukh remains Shah Rukh. In his element he can outdo anyone,” said the part guest who chose not to dance with the Khan.
“It just seemed so meaningless to join the queue. Just sitting back and watching Shah Rukh burn up the dance-floor with all his friends was a sight to remember forever.”
Farhan On Sharukh And Don!!
October 27, 2006
Farhan speaks on his film Don, the location and the cast of Don. “Malaysia is almost like a character in my Don. See, the whole point of re-making a classic featuring Mr Bachchan was to give it my own twist.
I’ve tweaked my dad and Salim Saab’s script a bit. The essence of Don remains the same. But in terms of look, mood and flavour, my Don is very different. I’d say it’s my homage to the original. ”
The tuning between Farhan and his leading man Shah Rukh is the talk of Bollywood. “We were friends from before Don. See, both Shah Rukh and I are ardent fans of Don and Mr Bachchan.
When we finally started started working together it was like his enthusiasm combined with mine. Shah Rukh’s energy level is very infectious. He gives very intelligent suggestions.
And since I’m always open to suggestions—who says I’m not, that’s totally untrue– I enjoyed Shah Rukh’s inputs. Though I must tell you it’s a lot of hard work..”
Talk veers to the much talked-about Khai pe paan benaras wala song-and-dance. “We knew what Mr Bachchan had done to the song in the earlier Don. Shah Rukh and I weren’t even thinking about it when we took the plunge.
First of all, we’re a great fan of the song. It’s truly a monster of a song. But what Saroj-ji (Saroj Khan) did with Khai ke paan is incredible. Of course there’s an element of deja vu in the choreography. But Saroj-ji has taken the number somewhere else.”
The feisty filmmaker takes a deep breath. “In fact all of us are paying a homage to the earlier Don. It’s true that we’ve improved on the technical value immensely. But how far could we go with technique alone?
Whether it’s Shah Rukh, Priyanka, Arjun Rampal, Isha Koppiker, Boman Irani, Om Puri, or Kareena doing that incredible number Yeh mera dil pyar ke deewana by Helenji, we see our efforts as a tribute to a film we’ve all seen and loved featuring our ultimate screen hero Amitabh Bachchan.”
Farhan regrettably doesn’t recall ever going on the sets of Chandra Barot’s Don as a child which his dad Javed Akhtar had written. “All my nostalgia for the film comes from watching Don on screen. It’s taken me to a totally new territory.”
