Salman Khan Ruling Comedy Charts
June 20, 2008
Well-known Bollywood producer Pahlaj Nihalani, who was instrumental in shaping actor Govinda’s career with his first hit ‘Ilzaam’, says Salman Khan is currently ruling the comedy circuit and is the best comic actor.
‘Though I have not worked with Salman till now, but I think in the industry today, he is the best actor as far as comic timing is concerned. He can play any kind of role but in comedy he is number one, ‘ Nihalani, who has completed 30 years in the industry, told. Read more
Salman Khan Goes Blogging
June 1, 2008
After Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, it’s now Salman Khan who has started his own blog.
Bollywood’s own naughty-baddy Sallu has jotted down some part of his true self and expressed his love towards his parents in his independent e-zone.
The actor has written, “My mother reminisces that I wouldn’t leave her finger even when I was sleeping. It anchored me in childhood. Being close to her, helped drive away the demons.
Today, I wish to tell my mother that I still hold her unseen finger. It is nearness to her alone that sees me through all the rough times. My father tells me that I was mortally afraid of crossing the road.
I would wait and wait and cross the road only when there was no traffic. Dad, I want you to know that even today, I do not cross the limits and boundaries of relationships.”
Where Amitabh is using his blog to promote his upcoming film Sarkar Raj, Aamir promoting Ghajini and even spreading his tear tattering news about his accidents, it is quiet evident that following the path of his fellow actors Salman, too, is using the medium of blog to promote his much hyped reality show 10 Ka Dum.
Ayesha As Salman’s Leading Lady
July 26, 2007
It’s official. After hunting around for a heroine in every nifty nook and crafty corner of the film industry Boney Kapoor has finally zeroed in on the super-talented Ayesha Takia as Salman Khan’s leading lady in the Hindi remake of the Tamil blockbuster Pokhiri.
Many names including Kangana Ranaut and Deepika Padukone were considered.
“But we decided finally on Ayesha. Both Sridevi and I feel she’s an under-utilized bundle of talent, just waiting to explode. We saw her in Nagesh Kukunoor’s Dor and decided she was it. No two ways about it. The girl will go very far if she watches her steps,” says Boney.
However there’s a bigger reason that talent that made Ayesha the ‘it’ girl. “We wanted to pair Salman with a heroine he has never worked with before. I want to create an aura of freshness around Salman through the cast factor,” divulges Boney.
“Therefore Ayesha with whom Salman has never been cast before. We’ve also got Om Puri, Mahesh Manjrekar and Siyaji Shinde to play the other roles.”
The crew of Wanted Dead And Alive leaves for Bangkok on July 25 to shoot two songs.
“Interestingly,” divulges Boney. “We’ve got Prabhu Deva who’s himself a choreographer, to direct and his brother Raju Sunderam to choreograph. I don’t think we’ve ever had such a combination before.”
The music for Wanted Dead & Alive is by Sajid-Wajid whose partnership with Salman goes back a long way to Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya and Tere Naam where they shared the billing with Himesh Reshammiya.
Adds Boney, “Salman is a rare 4- am friend in the industry. If you want he can be there for you at any time. He stood by me when my production house was going through a low and did No Entry without talking about the money. I feel Wanted Dead & Alive couldn’t be made without Salman.”
No Problems With Abhishek: Salman
July 22, 2007
Everybody knows Salman Khan is one of the most kind harted chap in the industry. But where does he derives his inspiration from?
In a candid interview to a leading daily Khan reveals that he is inspired by Rajnikanth who has scrupulously given back to the people all that he has got from them.
“I want to do what he is doing. Whatever he earns, he is giving back to the people,” he says.
The 41-year-old intends to use his Salman Khan Foundation, which supports several charitable causes, to emulate Rajinikanth. The Foundation is unique because it is largely funded by Khan’s own efforts.
While Salman is known to be large hearted he hasn’t done particularly well in matters related to the heart. When it comes to women, Salman admits, “My dad has excellent taste in women but I can go wrong sometimes,” alluding perhaps to his relationship with Aishwarya.
Ask him about his sour relationship with his male co-stars John and Sallu even refuses to recgnise the handsome hunk.
His equation with Vivek Oberoi hasn’t improved much over the years either.
When asked about the possibilty of teaming up with Vivek he says, “Who’s that? Oh little Viveik, that idiot! Of course not.”
But Abhishek Bachchan still remains in his good books despite marrying Aishwarya Rai. “Why would I have a problem with Abhishek,” he asks leaving everyone perplexed.
Movie Review : Partner
July 22, 2007
Starring: Salman Khan, Govinda, Lara Dutta, Katrina Kaif
Review: What can we say about David Dhawan’s Partner. It’s a leave-your-brains-at-home comedy that’s been blatantly ripped off from the Will Smith starrer Hitch.
In this desi version, Salman Khan stars as a love guru who doles out romantic tips to those who can’t woo their sweethearts left to their own devices. Everything from how to charm a lady, to how to behave on a first date… Everything from dancing skills to bedroom manners… Love guru is the one-stop problem-solver for geeks and freaks.
But when dumpy Govinda shows up for advice on how to win the affections of his cute-as-a-daisy boss Katrina Kaif, even Love Guru can’t seem to come up with a good enough plan.
Clearly Govinda is aiming for the sky, evidently the dumpling has bitten off more than he can chew. But determined to find a place in her heart, gol-matol Govinda convinces Love Guru to take up his case.
Now in between training his new student, Love Guru himself falls hook, line and sinker for tabloid photographer Lara Dutta, who’s always on the run from a midget gangster whose pictures she’s secretly taken. In the end, both men learn that it’s only good old-fashioned sincerity and a big heart that it takes to woo your girl.
When David Dhawan’s in form, there’s nobody who can do comedy quite like him. But truth is the director’s been slipping up lately.
The problem with his recent films is fairly obvious - there’s just no plot to speak of. Look at some of his most successful films - Coolie No 1, Hero No 1, Judwaa - even if they were madcap movies, each had a very distinct plot and the actors performed within the framework of the plot.
But his recent films - Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, Shaadi No 1 and even Partner have wafer-thin storylines and the focus is not so much on telling a story as it is about actor-interaction.
In the case of Partner for example, the screenplay has no twists and turns, no highs and lows, no surprises, no thrills.
The director depends entirely on the repartee between his actors to make the film work, the constant leg pulling between Govinda and Salman. All they’re doing throughout the film is delivering one funny dialogue after another.
Now while some of the lines are genuinely funny, let’s be honest, a lot of them just aren’t. Much of the dialogue just sounds forced.
Salman Khan For Yashraj Films???
February 12, 2007
There has to be some truth to it. Rumours have it that Kunal Kohli has moved to Salman Khan for his new film. With Yash Raj presenting Kunal’s film and Salman essaying the lead role, does it mark Salman’s entry into the Yash Raj camp?
“Nahin, aisa kuch bhi nahin hain,†Kunal laughs, “I haven’t signed him (Salman) for my new film. Someone’s imagination is working overtime.â€
“I guess, it triggered off during the G.I.F.A. Awards in Malaysia. Arbaaz (Salman’s younger brother) and I got friendly during that period. One evening, Salman threw a small party in his suite and Arbaaz asked me if I’d like to join them.
I did, and the next thing I know, there are reports that I had signed Salman. Wasn’t SRK supposed to star in my film initially?†Kunal jokes.
Let me complete writing the script first. I have decided not to approach any actor till I am ready with a hardbound script. Does that clarify my stand?†It does!
Prime Witness In Salman’s Case Turns Hostile
December 25, 2006
A prime witness in the hit-and-run case involving actor Salman Khan did not support the prosecution in the trial court and was declared hostile. I uess it had to be that way. Anyways, Mohammed Muslim Niyat Shaikh, who was injured when the actor allegedly rammed his car into a bakery on September 28, 2002, told the court that he had not seen the person on the wheel as he was hurt in the mishap and the passersby had surrounded him. I wonder then on what basis did police blame Sallu bhai for?
The prosecution immediately declared him hostile and Salman’s lawyer Dipesh Mehta then cross examined him.
The witness told Mehta that he was injured in leg and he could not see the person who was driving the car when the mishap occurred.
On January 3, prosecution would examine another witness who was also injured in the mishap.
One person was killed and four injured when actor Salman khan allegedly rammed his car into the bakery on the ill-fated day. God bless the four those were injured. And may the one who dies rest in peace.
I hope Salman is freed from all these cases. We surely don’t want to see both the big S bhai (Sallu and Sanju Baba) behind the bars!
Phir Tere Naam Or Tere Naam II?
November 9, 2006
Alright, the current trend in Bollywood says, make remakes and more remakes. Well, our handsome Bollywood star Salman Khan has come up with a bright idea as well. He has asked producers Sunil Manchanda and Mukesh Talreja to make a sequel to his mega hit Tere Naam and take the story forward. Well, that a rocking decision Sallu Bhai.
When contacted, Manchanda said: “It’s not yet fully confirmed if we will make the sequel to Tere Naam but we are definitely toying with the idea and are currently working on the script. Let’s see. If the final output of the script excites us, we’ll definitely go ahead with it.†Ask us Mr. Manchanda, we are ready for Tere Naam II.
Manchandra confirms that the film would definitely star Salman Khan, he refuses to divulge anything more about the project and is also keeping quiet about the other cast. For some obvious fact, I know if Salman is not there in the sequel, the movie will be destined to flop.
In Tere Naam, the film ended with Salman opting to go back into the mental asylum as he is deeply affected by the death of his ladylove. The sequel will supposedly have Salman coming out of the asylum and finding out how the world around him has changed. The prequel was directed by Satish Kaushik and also starred Bhoomika Chawla. She looked too but if the predicted script is true, there is no chance we will see Bhoomika in there. But you never know. We all are eagerly waiting for the final confirmation.

October 27, 2006
Well. He is one of my favorite Bro out there in Industry. To all those who haven’t watched Jaan-e-Mann, well guys you are missing too much. Believe me. Book your tickets today and go and watch it with your family or friends. Too hot not to be missed.
As far as our Bollywood Star Akshay Kumar’s performance is concerned, well he has been receiving huge critical acclaim for his role of a geek turned-spiffy- astronaut Agastya Rao in Jaan-e-Mann.
Since the release of the film, Akshay has got his hands full with loads of appreciation for his perfect portrayal of a curly haired geek with soda-rimmed glasses. He, indeed has, brought to life, a memorable character in a subtle manner with all the nuances.
Besides his electrifying screen presence, he has played a role against type, deftly tackling an unconventional role. The critics are raving about his performance in the film, as one reviewer puts it,”Akshay as the geek-turned-dapper nice guy, is fabulous and the most endearing character in the film.”
In fact, sources also say that Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan personally called him in Dubai, where he is shooting for ‘Welcome’ and complimented him for his performance.
Akshay has been receiving a lot of SMSs from the industry admiring his performance in ‘Jaan-e-Mann’. As one of the critics adds, ”This is an actor who seems to show increased maturity with every other role and he is definitely heading in the right direction.’’
But hey. Don’t forget the other superhero of the movie. One of my most favorite. Salman Khan has been rocking all the time, throughout his career. He rocks!!!! Overall, with Salman and Akshay both together in the movie, it makes it a treat to watch.
