Maybe Manisha Koirala Is Going To Join Politics
November 15, 2006
After a stint in Bollywood, actress Manisha Koirala, grand daughter of Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, is now thinking of dabbling in Nepalese politics.
Manisha might float a new political party to join politics, her family sources said.
However, it is unlikely that the Nepali Congress party, which had expelled her father Prakash Koirala for favouring King Gyanendra’s autocratic regime, would grant her membership, according to Nepali Congress sources.
Prakash Koirala became Education Minister during the King’s 14-month-long direct rule.
Nepalese student bodies asked people to boycott Manisha’s films after she openly canvassed for a Mayoral candidate two years ago during municipal polls, which was boycotted by pro-democracy alliance.
Manisha’s grandfather B P Koirala was the first elected PM of Nepal 45 years ago when NC got two third majority.
Now his younger brother G P Koirala is the Prime Minister of the Seven Party Alliance government that has forced the King to quit power in April after a 19-day uprising.
Manisha, who is involved in different social activities, frequently visits her hometown Biratnagar in eastern Nepal.
Manisha’s foray into politics will possibly not go well with the Prime Minister’s daughter Sujata, who considers her a rival, party insiders say. Manisha’s younger brother Shashank, a doctor by profession, is a central member of the Nepali Congress.
Family sources refused to give the media a date for her entry into Nepalese politics. “It is upto Manisha to decide when to join politics”, Prakash Koirala said.
All the best Manisha. Though we never expected you to fall into web of politics. Still…Do wellÂ
Manisha Acts With Brother In Anwar
November 9, 2006
It’s been really long that we heard about Manisha Koirala. Lately, i haven’t seen film or news regarding her. So…can we say that she is making a comeback?
Anyways, Bollywood Director Manish Jha is launching his film “Anwar” where in Manisha Koirala and brother Siddharth are playing the leading roles in the film.
Siddharth plays Anwar who is trapped inside a temple while his sister, played by Manisha, tries to capitalise on the incident for her channel.
Produced by Rajesh Singh’s banner Dayal Creations Ltd, the film revolves around Anwar, an artist who leaves his home in search of a better world but finds himself trapped inside a temple where he is exploited by people with vested interests.
The film, which is ready for release sometime in November, also has Nauheed Cyrusi, Vijay Raaz, Rajpal Yadav and Hiten Tejwani. Interesting Cast. Interesting script. I think we need to watch out for this movie.
