Ayesha Takia Vs Intimate/Hot Scenes

June 1, 2008

Young and chirpy actress Ayesha Takia considers Nagesh Kukunoor’s ‘Dor’, a poignant tale of two women, as the path-breaking film of her career. She says after the movie, people started taking her seriously as an actor.

‘After ‘Dor’, viewers showed the confidence that I could play serious roles too and so I was offered roles in films like ‘Eight By Ten’ and ‘Wanted’ and many other big movies,’ Ayesha told.

Ayesha is on the verge of completing another Kukunoor film titled ‘Eight By Ten’.

‘Ten days of shooting is left. It also stars Akshay Kumar,’ said Ayesha who plays Akshay’s wife in the supernatural thriller.

Her next release is ‘De Taali’, which will be showcased at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards, starting June 6 in Bangkok.

Talking about the film, the dimpled actress said: ‘The character is totally in contrast to what I am in actual life. I play Ammu who is a complete tomboy. She is a complete brat and grows up with Aftab Shivdasani and Reitesh Deshmukh. She does what normally guys do.’

Apart from ‘De Taali’, she has Boney Kapoor’s ‘Wanted Dead And Alive’, which marks southern dancing superstar Prabhu Deva’s entry into Hindi films as director.

The film is a remake of Tamil film ‘Pokkiri’, which was also directed by Prabhu Deva. In the action movie, Ayesha is paired with Salman Khan. Mahesh Manjrekar and Om Puri too feature in key roles.

The actress is also doing Ahmed Khan’s film on four children titled ‘Pathshala’ where she and Shahid Kapur play teachers.

Though ‘Tarzan - The Wonder Car’, for which she won the best debutant actress award in 2004, was released before ‘Socha Na Tha,’ Ayesha considers Imtiaz Ali’s romantic comedy as her debut film.

She said: ”Socha Na Tha’ will always be my first film and close to my heart. ‘Tarzan’ was an entertaining film but ‘Socha Naa Tha’ had a lot of space for acting.’

Was she approached for Imtiaz’s second film ‘Jab We Met’?

‘Initially, Bobby and I were supposed to do the film, but the dates did not work out between us. But, I look forward to working with Imtiaz.’

The actress faced the camera for the first time when she was four years old for an ad and later she did quite a few commercials and music videos.

How difficult was it to gain entry into films? ‘It was not at all difficult. I did not go looking for work. Imtiaz went through my audition tapes and called me to his office.’

Ayesha feels that making an entry is not at all difficult if one has the talent and is ready to work hard.

So far Ayesha has worked mainly with new directors - does she have a preference for them?

‘I don’t have any preferences and I cannot afford it. It is just that the offers came from them. And it is always an exciting experience as new directors are always enthusiastic and hard working and give everything for the project as they know that their life depends on the project.’

Did she plan to be an actress as a child?

‘I was raised in a normal Gujarati style with all the restrictions and reservations. As far as plans are concerned, I did not have plans to become an actress in my childhood.’

About a favourite co-star, Ayesha said: ‘I am not being diplomatic, I enjoyed working with all of them. Also, I am a very professional type of person. I finish my work and go home. I have no favourites, I enjoyed working with all of them.’

Apparently Ayesha makes producers sign a contract on her reservations about intimate and steamy scenes.

She said: ‘Yes, I do sign a contract with every producer and mother has nothing to do with it. I have lived life according to my own principles and ideologies and I adhere to it.’

The 23-year-old has done various roles ranging from comedy to serious characters, but prefers romantic movies.

‘I would like to do romantic films most and my second preference would be serious roles. Though I am not comfortable with stunts, I would definitely like to do an action film like ‘Tomb Raider’.’

She is dating Farhan Azmi and has started a boutique hotel business with him, but has no immediate plans to marry him.

‘I want to work and don’t have any plans to marry now.’

Ayesha As Salman’s Leading Lady

July 26, 2007

ayeshatakia.jpgIt’s official. After hunting around for a heroine in every nifty nook and crafty corner of the film industry Boney Kapoor has finally zeroed in on the super-talented Ayesha Takia as Salman Khan’s leading lady in the Hindi remake of the Tamil blockbuster Pokhiri.

Many names including Kangana Ranaut and Deepika Padukone were considered.

“But we decided finally on Ayesha. Both Sridevi and I feel she’s an under-utilized bundle of talent, just waiting to explode. We saw her in Nagesh Kukunoor’s Dor and decided she was it. No two ways about it. The girl will go very far if she watches her steps,” says Boney.

However there’s a bigger reason that talent that made Ayesha the ‘it’ girl. “We wanted to pair Salman with a heroine he has never worked with before. I want to create an aura of freshness around Salman through the cast factor,” divulges Boney.

“Therefore Ayesha with whom Salman has never been cast before. We’ve also got Om Puri, Mahesh Manjrekar and Siyaji Shinde to play the other roles.”

The crew of Wanted Dead And Alive leaves for Bangkok on July 25 to shoot two songs.

“Interestingly,” divulges Boney. “We’ve got Prabhu Deva who’s himself a choreographer, to direct and his brother Raju Sunderam to choreograph. I don’t think we’ve ever had such a combination before.”

The music for Wanted Dead & Alive is by Sajid-Wajid whose partnership with Salman goes back a long way to Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya and Tere Naam where they shared the billing with Himesh Reshammiya.

Adds Boney, “Salman is a rare 4- am friend in the industry. If you want he can be there for you at any time. He stood by me when my production house was going through a low and did No Entry without talking about the money. I feel Wanted Dead & Alive couldn’t be made without Salman.”

February 13, 2007

I am not sure who advised her for a hairstyle this funky :( She used to look beautiful is all i can say.

Anyways, our very talented actress Ayesha Takia is all excited about sporting a funky look in her upcoming film “Fool N Final”.

Ayesha was apparently stumped when director Ahmed Khan messed up with her hair in an attempt to give her an unkempt look in the film.

” ‘Fool N Final’ is a romantic action comedy. It’s an out-and-out entertainer. I have a loud, funky look in the film. My hair was messed up so that it could gel with my character,” says Ayesha.

“The look is very wacky so as to enliven my character in the film. It’s a fun film with some great songs and lots of hip hop,” remarks the chirpy actress.

Ayesha shares screen space with one of her oldest co-stars Shahid Kapoor. The two play thieves who are always on the run in the film.

“This is my second film with Shahid. He is a good hardworking actor and we got along well,” she quips. “Fool N Final”, produced by Firoz Nadiadwala, has an ensemble cast starring Sunny Deol, Sunil Shetty, Shahid Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Vivek Oberoi, Bipasha Basu, Arbaaz Khan, Sameera Reddy and Ayesha Takia.

Ayesha Takia Is Aamir Khan’s Mystery Girl

February 13, 2007

ayesha_takia.jpgThe mystery woman in Aamir Khan’s life is no more a mystery. Ayesha Takia, will play Aamir’s leading lady in his next film to be directed by Murugadoss, a film to be produced by Madhu Varma (Ram Gopal Varma’s relative) and Alu Arvind. :)

Apparently the film is a remake of Murgudoss’s earlier film Gajini. Ayesha’s mother confirmed the news saying, “Ayesha will be paired opposite Aamir in a forthcoming project. The film is a remake of a south Indian film which will be directed by a south Indian director.” she said.

Ayesha’s career is on an upswing with her winning critical acclaim for films like Nagesh Kukunoor’s Dor and Nikhil Advani’s Salaam-E-Ishq. Dor especially seems to have worked wonders for the actress with directors and producers suddenly taking notice of her talent. Aamir too seems to have acknowledge this fact.

Ayesha, as of now has three films in the pipeline- Lovely Singh’s Kya Love Story Hain opposite Tusshar Kapoor, E Niwas’s De Taali (where she Riteish Deshmukh and Aftaab Shivdasani play childhood friends) and Ahmed Khan’s Fool and Final opposite Shahid Kapoor.

Although she has acted with many budding stars, this is Ayesha’s first film opposite a megastar and the relatively newcomer is ecstatic.

We all are only too well acquainted with Aamir Khan’s work policy however, and Ayesha can’t reveal anything more at this point.

Ayesha Takia Won’t Be Kissing

October 24, 2006

ayesha_takia_coolbolly.jpgNagesh Kukunoor’s Dor has opened well across the country and going by director’s testimony Ayesha Takia has been a revelation in his film.

According to him, at first, he was stunned when somebody suggested Ayesha’s name for the role. But he knew that Naseer did cast her in his movie, he thought there must be something to her.

“I watched some scenes from Socha Na Tha, and she emerged as a really natural actress. What really did it for me were the emotions on her face. She’s fantastic.

I’m sure Tabu and Juhi would have given powerhouse performances, but I think, in this story, the only way to create empathy is to keep the character younger,” he gushes.

Apparently floored by Takia, Nagesh offered her a role in his next film but we hear that she has refused the film as there’s a kiss was involved in it.

According to insiders, Ayesha loved the script but given its kissing situation she has no option but to reject the offer.

But this is not the first time she had rejected any movie on the similar grounds. Ayesha also gave thumbs down to Yash Raj’s ‘Neil N Nikki’ as she was adamant not to kiss on screen.

But still Nagesh is full of praise for Ayesha.

“It comes as a pleasant surprise to see a two-year old in the industry trying her hand at a new genre. At a time, when she is not even considered a bankable star to sell an art house product, her decision to act in a de-glamorised set up is laudatory,” he exclaims.

Wow! Ayesha, You’re Rocking!!! Way to Go
