This is indeed a matter of great pride for her. Neha Dhupia who began her film career with movie like ‘Qayamat’, followed by ‘Julie’ and ‘Siskiyan’, is thrilled with the news of her movie being screened at the 9th Osian Film Festival.

This is the fist time that Neha’s film is selected for a film festival of this kind. The movie has Naseerudin Shah and Ranveer Shorey, besides her. This is a comedy based on the life of a bad actor looking for work.

Total Changeover For Rakhi Sawant

July 26, 2007

rakhi-sawant.jpgRakhi Sawant seems to have opted for an image change. In Rahul Rawail’s ensemble comedy ‘Buddha Mar Gaya’, she has been cast in a role that requires no oomph, only chutzpah.

‘I was hunting for a girl to play this zany, liberated, frank and fearless girl called Kim in my comedy. No one seemed to fit the bill… until I saw Rakhi on reality show ‘Bigg Boss’. I loved her spirit and honesty in the show. I immediately decided to cast her,’ Rawail said.

Rakhi, who will join the ensemble cast comprising Om Puri, Paresh Rawal, Anupam Kher (who plays a corpse) and Mobhano Modi-Kotwal, had no inhibitions about doing the film.

‘Rakhi has no item songs and no striptease element in ‘Buddha Mar Gaya’. I’m glad I found her to play the role. I can’t think of anyone better,’ said Rawail.

Ayesha As Salman’s Leading Lady

July 26, 2007

ayeshatakia.jpgIt’s official. After hunting around for a heroine in every nifty nook and crafty corner of the film industry Boney Kapoor has finally zeroed in on the super-talented Ayesha Takia as Salman Khan’s leading lady in the Hindi remake of the Tamil blockbuster Pokhiri.

Many names including Kangana Ranaut and Deepika Padukone were considered.

“But we decided finally on Ayesha. Both Sridevi and I feel she’s an under-utilized bundle of talent, just waiting to explode. We saw her in Nagesh Kukunoor’s Dor and decided she was it. No two ways about it. The girl will go very far if she watches her steps,” says Boney.

However there’s a bigger reason that talent that made Ayesha the ‘it’ girl. “We wanted to pair Salman with a heroine he has never worked with before. I want to create an aura of freshness around Salman through the cast factor,” divulges Boney.

“Therefore Ayesha with whom Salman has never been cast before. We’ve also got Om Puri, Mahesh Manjrekar and Siyaji Shinde to play the other roles.”

The crew of Wanted Dead And Alive leaves for Bangkok on July 25 to shoot two songs.

“Interestingly,” divulges Boney. “We’ve got Prabhu Deva who’s himself a choreographer, to direct and his brother Raju Sunderam to choreograph. I don’t think we’ve ever had such a combination before.”

The music for Wanted Dead & Alive is by Sajid-Wajid whose partnership with Salman goes back a long way to Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya and Tere Naam where they shared the billing with Himesh Reshammiya.

Adds Boney, “Salman is a rare 4- am friend in the industry. If you want he can be there for you at any time. He stood by me when my production house was going through a low and did No Entry without talking about the money. I feel Wanted Dead & Alive couldn’t be made without Salman.”

Priyanka Chopra Approached For Hollywood’s Film

July 26, 2007

priyanka-chopra.jpgPriyanka Chopra is being considered to play the female lead in Hollywood producer and former tennis player Ashok Amritraj’s film.

Ashok Amritraj heads the production company Hyde Park Entertainment. He is presently looking for an Indian actress for his next project, which will revolve around an Indian girl and an American man.

Amritraj has reportedly been in talks with Priyanka Chopra to act in the film. Rumours say he has handed over the film’s script to Priyanka.

The only problem may be that Amritraj wants to begin shooting his film in October this year. This may act as a bummer because Priyanka is most likely to be busy during that time of the year due to her prior commitments.

So, however clichéd it may sound but date problems may prevent Priyanka from doing Amritraj’s film. But it would be premature to jump to conclusions as Priyanka is said to be going through the film’s script and has yet to give her final word.

Rakhi Sawant’s Silicon Wonders

July 24, 2007

rakhi-sawant1.jpgRakhi Sawant’s exaggerated physical assets have often raised a question: Is she all natural?

Rakhi’s bust line today is much bigger than what it was a few years back. Many obvious guesses have been made in this regard, but Rakhi never came clean on the issue. But now, she has made a sensational revelation.

In an interview to a news daily, Rakhi has shown remarkable frankness in accepting that she has got breast implants to enhance her beauty and sex appeal. Rakhi told the paper that she got the implants one and a half years back by a specialist doctor in Dubai. Rakhi revealed that before the operation she was quite flat on top. Previously she was 32. Now she is 36.

However, the busty actress added that she would remove the implants for an upcoming dance show and get them back after six months. Rakhi says it is not a big deal to get silicone enhancement as, according to her, many actresses in Bollywood have done it.

Kareena Kapoor Joins The 2-Crore A Film League

July 22, 2007

kareena-kapoor.jpgKareena Kapoor will be part of three films to be made by production house Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision.

Just days after her beau Shahid Kapur signed a two-film deal with UTV, Bebo has clinched a three-film deal with Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision for which she will reportedly be paid Rs 6 crore.

If the amount reported is correct then this deal puts Kareena in the league of top Bollywood heroines with an acting fee approximating Rs. 2 crore per film. Only Aishwarya Rai is the other Bollywood actress who gets as much amount.

As per the deal, Kareena will act in three films to be made under the banner of Shree Ashtavinayak over the period of two years.

The first of these films will be the sequel to comedy ‘Golmaal’. The sequel, appropriately titled ‘Golmaal Returns’, will feature Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade and Tusshar Kapoor.

The three-film deal does not include the movie with director Imtiaz Ali for which Kareena has been shooting lately with boyfriend Shahid. The deal suddenly puts Kareena in the thick of action after a long hiatus.

The shooting of ‘Golmaal Returns’ will begin in November in Dubai.

No Problems With Abhishek: Salman

July 22, 2007

salman-khan.jpgEverybody knows Salman Khan is one of the most kind harted chap in the industry. But where does he derives his inspiration from?

In a candid interview to a leading daily Khan reveals that he is inspired by Rajnikanth who has scrupulously given back to the people all that he has got from them.

“I want to do what he is doing. Whatever he earns, he is giving back to the people,” he says.

The 41-year-old intends to use his Salman Khan Foundation, which supports several charitable causes, to emulate Rajinikanth. The Foundation is unique because it is largely funded by Khan’s own efforts.

While Salman is known to be large hearted he hasn’t done particularly well in matters related to the heart. When it comes to women, Salman admits, “My dad has excellent taste in women but I can go wrong sometimes,” alluding perhaps to his relationship with Aishwarya.

Ask him about his sour relationship with his male co-stars John and Sallu even refuses to recgnise the handsome hunk.

His equation with Vivek Oberoi hasn’t improved much over the years either.

When asked about the possibilty of teaming up with Vivek he says, “Who’s that? Oh little Viveik, that idiot! Of course not.”

But Abhishek Bachchan still remains in his good books despite marrying Aishwarya Rai. “Why would I have a problem with Abhishek,” he asks leaving everyone perplexed.

Lara Dutta Broke Off With Kelly?

July 22, 2007

lara-dutta.jpgRumour has it that the rock steady relationship between Lara Dutta and her beau Kelly Dorjee is presently going through a very rough patch.

It has been close to eight years since Lara Dutta and Kelly Dorjee began dating. Over the years, their love has withstood the test of time. But now, some deep rifts have begun to appear.

After living-in together for many years, Lara and Kelly seem headed for splitsville. While the real reason of the split is still not clear, it is being speculated that the two lovers have had too much of each other and that love has begun to evaporate from their relationship.

In the first sign of an impending split, Kelly has reportedly moved out of Lara’s apartment in Bandra and has rented a new house.

Friends close to the couple are quoted as saying that earlier Lara and Kelly would often attend the social dos and dinners together. But of late, things have changed. Kelly is often spotted alone.

Lara has not denied in the past that her relation with Kelly has been through rough patches over the years. But this time, the friction between the lovers seems a tad too serious.

So far there has been no confirmation or denial of the split by either Lara or Kelly.

Bipasha Basu And Saif Ali Khan Lovemaking

July 22, 2007

bipasha_basu.jpgNot in real life but for their forthcoming film ‘Race’, Bipasha Basu and Saif Ali Khan will be getting intimate for a lovemaking scene.

The Saif and Bipasha friendship has been making headlines of late. Bips has often been spotted with Saif at parties, social dos and restaurants. In fact, their growing proximity has fueled the speculation of a possible rift between Bipasha and her boyfriend John Abraham.

Now, the latest dope on Bips and Saif is that they will be seen enacting a passionate lovemaking scene in director duo Abbas-Mastan’s next thriller ‘Race’. The scene will be part of a song in the film.

While sources at TIPS (film’s producers) say the scene is yet to be shot, there are some media reports that allege that the scene has already been shot in relative secrecy.

According to reports, the sequence was recently shot at a studio in Goregaon East. During this intimate scene between Saif and Bipasha, everybody in the unit, except a few technicians, was asked to leave the sets.

If this is true, then it is obviously understandable that the lovemaking scene was very steamy.

Tips Films, the producers of Race, intend to use the risqué scenes extensively as part of the promos for the film.

Ramesh Taurani from Tips Films says: “Yes it is true that we have very hot scenes featuring Saif and Bipasha, which are part of a song.”

Race is a thriller set in South Africa which features Anil Kapoor, Akshaye Khanna, Saif Ali Khan, Bipasha Basu and Katrina Kaif.

Movie Review : Partner

July 22, 2007

Starring: Salman Khan, Govinda, Lara Dutta, Katrina Kaif

Review: What can we say about David Dhawan’s Partner. It’s a leave-your-brains-at-home comedy that’s been blatantly ripped off from the Will Smith starrer Hitch.

partner.jpgIn this desi version, Salman Khan stars as a love guru who doles out romantic tips to those who can’t woo their sweethearts left to their own devices. Everything from how to charm a lady, to how to behave on a first date… Everything from dancing skills to bedroom manners… Love guru is the one-stop problem-solver for geeks and freaks.

But when dumpy Govinda shows up for advice on how to win the affections of his cute-as-a-daisy boss Katrina Kaif, even Love Guru can’t seem to come up with a good enough plan.

partner2.jpgClearly Govinda is aiming for the sky, evidently the dumpling has bitten off more than he can chew. But determined to find a place in her heart, gol-matol Govinda convinces Love Guru to take up his case.

Now in between training his new student, Love Guru himself falls hook, line and sinker for tabloid photographer Lara Dutta, who’s always on the run from a midget gangster whose pictures she’s secretly taken. In the end, both men learn that it’s only good old-fashioned sincerity and a big heart that it takes to woo your girl.

When David Dhawan’s in form, there’s nobody who can do comedy quite like him. But truth is the director’s been slipping up lately.

partner3.jpgThe problem with his recent films is fairly obvious - there’s just no plot to speak of. Look at some of his most successful films - Coolie No 1, Hero No 1, Judwaa - even if they were madcap movies, each had a very distinct plot and the actors performed within the framework of the plot.

But his recent films - Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, Shaadi No 1 and even Partner have wafer-thin storylines and the focus is not so much on telling a story as it is about actor-interaction.

In the case of Partner for example, the screenplay has no twists and turns, no highs and lows, no surprises, no thrills.

The director depends entirely on the repartee between his actors to make the film work, the constant leg pulling between Govinda and Salman. All they’re doing throughout the film is delivering one funny dialogue after another.

Now while some of the lines are genuinely funny, let’s be honest, a lot of them just aren’t. Much of the dialogue just sounds forced.
