Sonam Kapoor Being Careful For Roles

Sonam Kapoor

Sonam Kapoor

Seems Bollywood newcomer Sonam Kapoor is following Katrina Kaif’s footstep who is being really choosy in selecting her roles for films. Recently, Sonam Kapoor rejected a film opposite Ranbir Kapoor that also starred Deepika Padukone in the crucial role. My only question is why???? Do what you get is what i would suggest Sonam. Anyways…

Earlier Katrina had also refused to act in film maker Anurag Basu’s upcoming film Khamoshi that featured Ranbir and Priyanka in the lead role. The film offered to Sonam will feature Ranbir in a double role where one of them will be set in the 1950s background and the other would be today youngster. The film directed by Vikramjit Singh is titled Mera Jahan that talks about a comic book writer played by Ranbir who is vanished in his own world of perceptions.

Anyways, following footsteps in one thing but to get a career like that of Katrina, one has to be beautiful enough like her, only then so much success would come. Katrina has really improved her hindi, she is a hard worker, plus she does not constantly nag about her beauty or go around acting kiddish by calling super star of bollywood as her aunty. Get the point….Sonam?

Beat The Heat Amrita Rao’s Style

Amrita Rao

Amrita Rao

Bollywood hottie Amrita Rao as she shares her cool summer mantras to beat the heat.

The best way to beat the sweltering Mumbai heat is to take off to some place cooler. Shooting in this heat is anyway near impossible as the heat tends to not only melt away your make-up, but interests, too. But if I’m not shooting and do not have the option of taking off to Manali, that is the one place I love most in India, I love to spend my time indoors, just chilling out with cool drinks.

The heat is a natural appetite killer, so in a way it’s a good time for people who wish to diet or lose weight. So, skip the heavy lunches and opt for loads of fruit and vegetable salads instead.

I prefer home-made food like curd-rice, and a lot of salads with cucumber. That apart, chaas is an absolute must. Through the day, you’ll see me sipping cool drinks like coconut water, fresh-lime water and loads of juices specially water-melon.

Going out in the day is something I avoid, I do like to step out in the evenings though. A stroll on the beach is what I ache to do, but it’s near impossible with the crowds around. So, instead I go for a long drive with friends or catch up a movie or go shopping. I love binging on mangoes, too, but I would advise anyone who loves mangoes as much as I do, to remember and drink a glass of cold milk after it.

Summer fruits like lychees and cherries are my favourites and I eat as much as I want to, without having to worry about piling on the pounds. All in all, I still celebrate summer, as I would as a child. So, nothing’s cooler than catching up with friends, watching movies and chilling out literally!

Deepika Padukone In A Sari At Cannes

Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone

Cannes has been getting ample doses of Bollywood glamour courtesy Aishwarya Rai and Mallika Sherawat. But it was Deepika Padukone who flew the flag for India high today on the French Riviera, looking glamorous in a sari.

While both Aishwarya and Mallika opted for Western couture, the 24-year-old took the six yard route to style as she stepped out on the red carpet in a Rohit Bal sari. She teamed the cream and gold confection with Kundan jewelery, a stone studded clutch and added a quirky touch with a chunky watch.

The former model’s traditional attire was complimented by a sparkly bindi and a neat bun, which left the ‘RK’ tattoo on her neck visible.

Deepika who is at the prestigious film festival as the brand ambassador of Chivas Regal, attended Mathieu Amalric’s French movie, Tournee along with Bal.

“When one is representing India in a very visible platform like the Cannes, gowns and elaborate western dresses do not really represent India. One should not only feel Indian, but also look Indian,” the designer said. The criticism seems to be leveled at Aishwarya, who always opts for Western designers for her stint at the film festival. The 36-year-old wore a violet tulle and mousseline gown from Elie Saab for the festival opening, but her ensemble did not win her any brownie points as her pompadour updo was criticised as “matronly”. For her second outing on the red carpet with fellow L’Oreal spokesmodel Eva Longoria, Aishwarya opted for a black Armani Prive strapless number, which hugged her curves.

Meanwhile Mallika who likes to shock with her fashion choices, has kept a low profile this year. She had opted for a simple white dress for the opening and wore a red gown for an after-party. She had grabbed headlines with her first appearance at Cannes, when she opted for a plunging golden blouse paired with a slashed skirt as she posed with Jackie Chan for the photocall of their film The Myth. Her fashion choices again caused a stir when she turned up at the premiere of Inglorious Basterds in Los Angeles wearing a sheer black gown with her underwear visible.

Actress Nandita Das who was a part of the Cannes jury in 2003 had won praise for wearing Indian ensembles at the festival including a silk sari, which she said had been a part of her wardrobe for years. The sari has moved on from being a daily Indian staple to an international style statement.

Sugababes, the popular girl band sported sarees and bindis in their latest avatar as Indian brides. The musical trio of Amelle Barabah, Heidi Range and Jade Ewen got an Indian make-over for the cover of Asian Woman magazine, reported Sun online.

Earlier the American group Pussycat Dolls had walked the red carpet wearing saris to announce their single Jai Ho. Liz Hurley, Victoria Beckham and Ashley Judd are some other Hollywood beauties who have worn the Indian ensemble.

Mallika Sherawat Charms Everyone At Cannes

Mallika Sherawat

Mallika Sherawat

Mallika Sherawat charmed everyone with her snake act and what not at the Cannes 2010 Festival. Seriously!!!! Mallika Sherawat and her snake was the talking point at the ongoing Cannes film festival. Check out her twit pic with a snake around her neck.

She tweeted, “And now for a very special and private photo shoot in Cannes with my date, Rudy the Sssnake :) ” She was also working double time with the producers of Hisss announcing their release dates and even signed autographs with a snake around her neck.

She then posed in a lavender avatar on the red carpet for a Variety magazine do. Later she was seen putting a nude dress act for the red carpet.

She followed up with a black zippy version as she headed to “meet Microsoft founder Paul Allen on his yacht :) . Whew!

Apparently, her flesh-tone dress got her on the best dressed women list! The only Indian amongst the thirteen on day one at Cannes, which i guess is somewhat admirable feat however no idea why it was given to her.!

She tweeted, “omg tweeps! In front of everyone super-designer Valentino said I’m one of most beautiful and glamorous women he’s ever seen! I can die now, jk!”

What’s more, no one can tweet-drop names like Mallika. Sample this: “with maestro Shekhar Kapur at the Majestic salon. He’s on the Cannes jury this year. Dont mess with him! lol.” “me and Salma Hayek. Her and her hubby are so sweet :) . And she’s even more beautiful in person!”

Vidya Balan’s Sunglasses Obsession

Vidya Balan

Vidya Balan

We thought Vidya Balan’s favourite accessories were her signature style jhumkas, the chunky beaded neck pieces, and even the rudraksha she so stylishly flaunts.

But wait… there is a dark side to this Southern beauty, too. Yeah, her favourite accessory is sunglasses – of all shapes, sizes and super-stylish brands. The lady can resist shopping clothes, shoes, bags and even her cool kurtas and designer saris, but the minute she spots dark glasses, she turns into a “shades shopaholic”.

Recently, while shooting in Delhi she surprised her staff with the way she went on a shade shopping spree. It was rather a shock than surprise seeing someone going mad over shades. However i am yet to see Vidya Balan in shades in some movie. Can’t remember her wearing shades in any. If you know one then do tell me.

Anyways, i think our lovely Vidya Balan is forgetting something. We all aren’t as excited as Vidya for her wide-range of sexy shades. Probably the simplest reason is that we won’t be able to get a closer look at those lovely, deep, brown eyes? What do you all think? Aren’t her eyes so very beautiful? :)
